The Dong-A Ilbo 2023 Gongju Baekje Marathon, which announces the start of the fall marathon, will be held on the 17th at 9 am on a course that starts from Gongju Citizen’s Stadium in South Chungcheong Province and returns to downtown Gongju.
The Gongju Baekje Marathon, co-hosted by Gongju City, Dong-A Ilbo, and Sports Donga, is a masters competition representative of the central region that started in 2003. It was created to commemorate the Baekje Main Road between Gongju and Buyeo, which was completed in January 2003, and to expand the marathon population.
The Gongju Baekje Marathon will be held on the 17th on a course that starts from Gongju Citizen’s Stadium in South Chungcheong Province and returns to the city. About 8,000 participants will participate in the marathon festival in five categories, including the 32.195km course and the 42.195km full course, which were newly established this year. Participants in the Gongju Baekje Marathon can feel the 700-year history of Baekje, the ancient capital, on the race course that passes through Gongsanseong Fortress, Royal Tomb of King Muryeong, and Buyeo Royal Tomb, which are registered as UNESCO World Heritage Sites. It is also loved as a travel course where you can enjoy sightseeing at Baekje historical sites. A total of 8,000 people in each category will participate in this year’s competition. The Gongju Baekje Marathon, which was not held offline in 2020 and 2021 due to the spread of the novel coronavirus infection (Corona 19), was welcomed by Masters marathoners as it was held again for the first time in three years last year.
This year’s competition, which features a new 32.195km course, will be divided into five categories: 42.195km full course, half course, 10km, and 5km. The newly established 32.195km course is intended to provide an opportunity for masters marathoners who want to challenge the full course to improve their condition in competitions that continue in October, such as the Gyeongju International Marathon (October 21). The 32.195km course follows the same route as the full course, but the turning point is only 5km ahead. About 800 people participate in the 32.195km course.바카라사이트
If you are a Masters who has never run a full course yet, it is very helpful to run a distance longer than a half course but shorter than a full course in advance. To complete the full course, ‘LSD (Long Slow Distance) training’ is required. Training to build the endurance necessary to complete a full course involves running long distances of more than 30 km slowly at 60% of normal speed. Many marathon enthusiasts use participating in the 32.195km course as LSD training.
To help participants complete the race within their target time, 37 members of the Gwanghwamun Marathon Group, a marathon volunteer group, will participate as pacemakers. There will be 14 pacemakers for the full course, 10 players for the 32.195km course, and 13 pacemakers for the half course.
Those who complete each course of this competition receive a ‘completion medal’. Participants in the Seoul Marathon and Donga Marathon held in March can receive a ‘Run Journey’ commemorative medal if they complete the Gongju Baekje Marathon and the Gyeongju International Marathon next month. However, those who complete 5km are excluded.
