The baseball gods literally turned their backs on Hanwha and Jung Eun-won. A rare play was made, and SSG, with their luck on their side, capitalized on it and showed the fundamentals of a powerhouse team.
SSG completed the sweep with a 6-1 come-from-behind win over Hanwha at SSG Landers Field in Incheon on the 30th. The team maintained a 2.5-game lead over leader LG, which beat Doosan in a nightcap, and extended its lead over third-place Doosan to six games.
Starter Oh Won-seok pitched well with five innings of one-run ball, and the bullpen, including Moon Seung-won, did not give up a run in the clutch. The bats were also praiseworthy, as they capitalized on their good fortune to take control of the game.
Hanwha took the lead from the start. In the first inning, Lee Jin-young led off with a double down the left field line. Jung Eun-won followed with a timely double down the right field line to load the bases, but SSG starter Oh Won-seok was able to keep the bases loaded. With the bases loaded, Oh Won-seok got Noh Si-hwan to ground out to second base, Chae Eun-sung to strike out swinging, and Kim Tae-yeon to fly out to left field to end a difficult first inning.
Hanwha’s offense went cold in the fourth inning. Hanwha had a 1-0 lead in the top of the fourth when Noh Si-hwan drew a walk and Chae Eun-sung singled to put runners on first and second with no outs. But nothing came of it. Kim Tae-yeon flied out to center field and Noh Si-hwan stole second, putting runners on first and third, but Oh Sun-jin and Williams both struck out. Oh Won-seok’s bold fastball battle shone through.
Then SSG started to fight back. Trailing 0-1 in the top of the fourth inning, Heredia drew a walk and moved to second on a stolen base when Park Sung-sung batted. Park then hit a single up the middle to tie the game.
SSG turned the game around in the fifth inning. Choi Ji-hoon drew a one-out walk against Hanwha’s second pitcher, Kim Bum-soo. The baseball gods smiled on SSG when Choo Shin-soo grounded to second base. Choo Shin-soo’s hard hit ball was directly in front of second baseman Jung Eun-won. Eun-won caught the ball well and tried to throw to second base, but the ball got stuck in her glove and wouldn’t come out.
As a result, she couldn’t get the ball out and couldn’t throw to either second or first base. This left runners on first and second with one out. SSG got Choi Joo-hwan to fly out to left field, but Choi Jung was there to save the day. With runners on first and second, Choi hit a single to left-center field. It scored Choi Ji-hoon from second and Choo Shin-soo, who had gotten off to a fast start, from first. 먹튀검증
SSG took advantage of a throwing error at first base on Heredia’s deep fly ball to center field, allowing Choi to round third base and come home for a 4-1 lead. Whether it was luck or something else, you could feel the DNA of a strong team that instinctively knew the flow of the game and didn’t miss it.
At 6:53 p.m., after SSG’s fifth inning, the game was suddenly suspended due to heavy rain, and the game resumed at 7:54. Hanwha took advantage of the opportunity in the seventh inning, trailing 1-4. One out later, Moon Hyun-bin singled to right.
